Reducing minority stress and internalized oppression with LGBTQ+ clients

This training will focus on clinical strategies to reduce minority stress and internalized oppression with LGBTQ+ clients. It will provide an overview of the evidence base regarding these issues, using case examples to illustrate how they manifest in LGBTQ+ clients and how to assess their role in clients’ presenting problems. Drawing from evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral strategies within an intersectional framework that attends to the realities of clients’ social contexts, the training will provide specific skills to help clients reduce the harmful impacts of oppression on their lives and improve their overall well-being.
