Improving crisis care for LGBTQ+ clients
This training will focus on key knowledge and clinical approaches to address suicidal crisis, psychosis, and serious mental illness in LGBTQ+ populations. It will provide an overview of the evidence base regarding these issues, using case examples to illustrate affirming approaches. Drawing from evidence-based strategies within an intersectional framework that attends to the realities of clients’ social contexts, the training will build on existing skills to help participants apply affirming approaches in addressing the needs of the LGBTQ+ client experiencing serious mental illness, psychosis, and/or suicidal crisis.
