Facilitating difficult conversations
This skill-building workshop is designed to help behavioral health professionals develop tools to navigate difficult conversations about systemic oppression. Through a combination of theory, practice, and real-world scenarios, participants will explore the cycle of oppression and its impact on communication and relationships. The course focuses on strategies for managing discomfort, which often arises during conversations about oppression, racism, and systemic inequality. Participants will learn techniques to create brave and safe(r) spaces, where both colleagues and clients can engage authentically. The training emphasizes the importance of understanding one’s own socialization into oppressive systems and how these influences affect professional interactions.
