Comprehensive approach to the care of gender non-conforming children, transgender youth, and young adults

TransYouth Care Symposium is tailored for providers and professionals committed to delivering gender-affirming care to gender-diverse children, transgender, and non-binary youth, along with their families. This educational symposium provides participants with vital clinical skills and the latest best practices to refine their clinical approaches.

The educational goal of the Symposium is to empower professionals across diverse fields with scientifically researched knowledge essential for delivering gender-affirming care to gender-diverse children and transgender and non-binary adolescents and offer guidance on supporting parents and caregivers in this context.

Learning objectives:

  • Identify 2 ways to help a parent develop an affirming response to their child’s gender identity disclosure.
  • Define pubertal suppression medication and describe how it is used in the treatment of gender dysphoria.
  • Identify 3 types of gender-affirming hormones used in treating and preventing gender dysphoria.
  • Identify 2 problems with the distress model of care for the treatment of gender dysphoria.
  • Identify and define external triggers and internalized stressors of gender dysphoria through and intersectional lens.
