Correct admission and discharge overlap | PCE

If a client is admitted into two service programs at the same time, and those programs fall under the same admission program in PCNX, only submit the admission and discharge dates in chronological order.

Review the below examples for further reference.

Scenario 1

  1. Admitted to the 921 S. 1st – Rise on 07/12/2021
  2. Admitted to Wool Creek – F&C OPC on 07/28/2021.
  3. Discharged from 921 S. 1st – Rise on 08/01/2021 (after Wool Creek – F&C OPC admission date)
  4. Discharged from Wool Creek – F&C OPC on 08/30/2021.

Since there is an overlap in service programs under the same admission program (yMH CCSCC – MH) in PCNX, only the earliest admission date 07/12/2021 and latest discharge date 08/30/2021 would be shown.

Our myAvatar/PCNX registers both admissions as they were submitted, but only the earliest admission date would be shown in the system. When submitting the discharges, the first discharge would register in the system, but the system recognizes that there are two admissions, so it would not show the first discharge, but only shows the latest discharge when that is submitted.

Since the admission date and discharge date for yMH CCSCC Wool Creek – F&C OPC falls between the admission date and discharge date for yMH CCSCC 921 S. 1st – Rise, you will only see the admit and discharge dates of yMH CCSCC 921 S. 1st – Rise in PCNX. That is the earliest admit date and latest discharge date.

Diagnosis

This is an example diagnosis search selection showing that a diagnosis from the second service program under the same admission program will appear in ProviderConnect NX.


 

This is an example if the diagnosis for the second service program is different from the first primary diagnosis, the system will recognize the most recent diagnosis as the primary diagnosis.

When submitting a second service program admission under the same admission program, the second service program admission would not show up in PCNX, but the diagnosis of the second service program would show in PCNX.

 

 

 

If the diagnosis for the second service program is different from the first primary diagnosis, the system will recognize the most recent diagnosis as the primary diagnosis. In this example, it would take F32.9 Major depressive disorder as the primary.
