Countertransference and dual relationships in queer psychology

This training will focus on the complexities of providing therapy to LGBTQIA+ clients. It will give an overview of how sociocultural events affect minority stress, community connectedness, and the mental health of LGBTQIA+ clients. Additionally, this training will present common issues of countertransference and dual relationships that can occur within the LGBTQIA+ community and how clinicians can navigate such spaces.

Identify and explain 2 recent examples of sociocultural events that may contribute to the mental health of LGBTQIA+ clients.

Explain 2 possible solutions for navigating dual relationships within the LGBTQIA+ community.
