Register for Senate Bill 43 updates training

The Legal Changes to 5150 Criteria (Senate Bill 43 Updates) Training is a supplemental training that is required for current 5150 cardholders who attended 5150 training in 2024 or earlier to review the new Senate Bill 43 guidelines that will be implemented in Santa Clara County beginning January 1, 2026.

Trainings will be provided by Law Foundation of Silicon Valley attorneys who will address the legal aspects of Senate Bill 43. 

On May 21st, there will be an additional presentation after the training by Dr. Cheryl Ho, Behavioral Health Medical Director, Substance Use Treatment Services. Dr. Ho will be providing a clinical perspective on the new expanded definition of grave disability. This will be a recorded session and available to view online.

This is an informational training only. Participants will receive the necessary legal updates; however, it will not provide participants with 5150 authorization privileges. Those who need to renew authorization, or those looking to become authorized for the first time, must attend a 5150-certification training and exam. If you attend a 5150-certification training and exam in 2025, you are not required to take the Senate Bill 43 training as the 5150 trainings will incorporate the Senate Bill 43 updates.
